Boris Michel is a geographer working at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU). He studied Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Münster and received his PhD in 2010 for a study on urban transformation in the Philippines. He was a visiting professor at the University of British Columbia and the University of Bremen and is a founding member and editor for the open-access journal sub\urban Zeitschrift für kritische Stadtforschung. His main research areas are urban geography, the history of 20th century geography and critical cartographies of the digital transformation. As part of “Governing the Narcotic City” he is the PI of the case study on urban drug tourism.
